Background:

Carmen Rizzo- a two-time Grammy nominee & underground darling has had a very eclectic career. He is frequent fixture in album credits as a producer, mixer, remixer, programmer, and co-writer on a wide range of influential artists including Seal, Coldplay, Alanis Morissette, Paul Oakenfold, BT, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Cirque du Soleil, KD Lang and Pete Townshend of The Who, to mention only a few. Carmen also has had very successful career as a solo artist. His first album “The Lost Art of the Idle Moment” (The Lab/Universal) is a lush, cinematic, beat-driven disc that features collaborations with a wide range of guest vocalists including Esthero, Jem, Kate Havnevik, Ladybug Mecca (The Digable Planets), & Grant Lee Phillips. USA Today featured the album, with a picture on the cover of The Life section, as their 1 pick for their fall music guide. Taste-makers Jason Bentley, Nic Harcourt & Ann Litt from L.A. radio station KCRW championed the disc well before its release. The album debuted at 2 on KCRW’s album chart and received heavy airplay on Sirius & XM Satellite radio peaking 2 on the XM’s Cafe chart. His forthcoming sophomore album “Ornament of an Impostor” is slated for an early 2008 release on his own label Electrofone Music and features contributions from Jem, Kate Havenvik, The Deer Tracks and Blue Neck. Carmen also co-founded the highly influential, Niyaz (Six Degrees) with Azam Ali & Loga Ramin Torkian, a world beat/electronic fusion; “Blending Indian & Persian exoticism and beats that are state of the art” writes Billboard Magazine. The album released in 2005, debuted at 1 on the iTunes world music chart and has also been featured on NPR’s Day to Day”, PRI & Voice of America. The band has toured the entire world headlining in 10 countries including, India, Japan, Turkey, Canada, Mexico and throughout Europe. Keep an eye out for the new Niyaz “Nine Heavens” in mid 2008.

The two-time GRAMMY nominated producer-mixer-programmer and writer has a very eclectic list of credits. Ranging from producing and writing on DJ Paul Oakenfolds current “Bunka” album, to producing singer songwriter Grant Lee Phillips “Mobilize” album to co-writing, engineering & programming on the multi platinum Seal 2 album. Remixes range from Gus Gus to Sinead OConner to BT. As well as working with many world artist from Ekova, Ryuichi Sakamoto to Khaled & Cirque du Soliel.

Carmen is currently recording a new self-titled artist record which the song “Too Rude” featured Esthero is a KCRW radio favorite. Carmen has also produced with Marius De Vries & David Foster and has recorded & mixed for Trevor Horn & Don Was.
