Federico Miranda

Federico Miranda was inclined towards music at an early age, picking up the electric guitar at twelve and writing his first composition at fourteen. Surrounded by the nature of Costa Rica, he developed a sensibility towards the ocean and the environment and grew up with a complete dedication to his instrument. In his album “Baula Project”, Miranda combines rock sounds and jazz textures to create what he calls “Naturist Impressionist Music”. By sending a message of awareness for nature conservation, one of his goals is to help preserve the Leatherback Turtle or Baula, an endangered species that nests in the beaches of Guanacaste. Miranda has performed “Baula Project” in Costa Rica, Europe, Mexico and Japan.

Miranda is also founding member of rock group Gandhi, one of most popular and respected bands in the Costa Rican music scene. Gandhi has released four albums with Sony and BMG, toured Central America, Mexico, the U.K. and North America, and has shared the stage with groups such as Café Tacuba, Jamiroquai and Deep Purple.

A graduated Electrical Engineer and member of the Audio Engineering Society (AES), Miranda actively uses technology to create his music: both in his personal recording studio and on the road, he is equipped with M-AUDIO.
