Jason Bentley

With a passion for the dynamic currents of music and culture, Jason Bentley has established a vibrant career as taste maker radio and club DJ, Music Supervisor for film and television, and forward thinking event producer serving the Los Angeles community for more than a decade. With a vision of dance and electronic music rooted in a global movement, Jason is a renaissance man of club culture, with an influence felt worldwide.

Producing two highly acclaimed radio programs, Bentley has championed the spectrum of dance and electronic music as host and producer of “Metropolis” on NPR flagship KCRW, and “Afterhours” on modern rock giant KROQ in Los Angeles. With artistry in the mix and an instinct for emerging talent, his two shows account for more than 15 hours of new music programming each week in the entertainment capital of the world. Over the past ten years, Jason’s support has been pivotal to the success of artists such as Portishead, Massive Attack, Moby, Fatboy Slim, The Chemical Brothers, and Groove Armada.

As A&R Executive for Madonna’s Maverick Records, Jason was nominated for a Grammy as Music Supervisor of The Matrix. His duties for The Matrix included supervising music for all three feature films, as well as The Animatrix, and the commercial advertising and theatrical trailers for the films. Consulting for the ad community at Venice-based music and sound design house Machine Head, Jason has managed global music interests for Samsung, Nike, Hieneken, Mitsubishi, and Motorola, contributing on a variety of levels; from music research and casting, to writing, remixing, and negotiating music clearances.

In the live arena, Jason has deejayed with a wide range of artists from David Bowie to Underworld, winning top honors from both the LA Weekly and the New Times publications in recent years as "Best DJ in Los Angeles." Bossa:Nova is Jason’s live music events collective, featuring the best international DJs and global dance music artists since 1995. Bossa:Nova is a distinctive nightlife destination unlike any other in Los Angeles, featuring a steady stream of talent from Daft Punk to Mark Farina.

Jason has recently stormed the recording studio to remix Seal, The Flaming Lips, Gus Gus, Meat Beat Manifesto, and The Robert Randolph Band. He is currently working on original music as well, and developing a DJ compilation series for release later this year. Whether hes producing Metropolis on KCRW, working on a film project, or deejaying at a Hollywood hot spot there is an underlying love of music that is evident, making Jason’s work a vital part of the Los Angeles cultural landscape.
