Tim Smith

Tim Smith began his musical career at the age of 10 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana performing in full costume and make up as Ace Frehley of Kiss in his first band, Black Diamond. This of course paved the way for many other (although not quite so theatrical) musical ventures, the obligatory junior high trumpet and French horn years, followed by several magical seasons playing jazz guitar at the famed Baton Rouge High of which Tim refers to as "The Salad Days." Given the option of a scholarship to college or the chance to join a touring and recording rock band, The Producers, Tim hit the high road and has really never stopped touring since.

In 1992 he was asked to play with critical faves, Jellyfish, and recorded their album, Spilt Milk. During his solo ventures with his band, Umajets, Tim was contacted in 1996 by Sheryl Crow to audition for her band as bass player. Since then hes been a part of her group, recording and touring, playing bass, guitar and singing, and trying to supply a good amount of humor and gags for the benefit of all. As an Aquarian,Tim is known to fall asleep during his 2 hour baths, a ritual he says "clears the mind, and wrinkles the fingers." When not bathing, playfully attending Algebra II classes, or publishing his next volume of "Lawyers I Have Loved," Tim is happily at home with his wife and 2 children giving them all the loving direction they so sorely need.
